# GlassFrog API Overview

An **application programming interface** (**API**) is an interface or communication protocol between different parts of a computer program. Documentation for the API is provided below.

This is currently in beta.  Documentation is here:

**API v3** 

We're also currently running version 3 of the GlassFrog API. It uses and returns JSON (JavaScript Object Notation).
